Care Guide

Stainless Steel Frames

Our frames are crafted from brushed stainless steel — a material chosen for its durability and resistance to tarnish. With a little routine care, it will retain its appearance for decades.

Routine Cleaning

  • Wipe down with a clean, dry microfibre cloth to remove everyday dust and fingerprints.
  • For marks that won't lift dry, dampen the cloth lightly with water and wipe in the direction of the grain.
  • A small amount of mild, pH-neutral washing-up liquid on a damp cloth is safe for more persistent residue.
  • Always dry immediately after any wet wipe — do not leave moisture on the frame.

What to Avoid

  • Abrasive pads, scourers, or steel wool — these will permanently scratch the brushed finish.
  • Bleach, chlorine-based products, or undiluted household cleaners.
  • Solvent-based sprays such as WD-40, acetone, or nail varnish remover.
  • Leaving salt water, hairspray, or perfume on the surface — rinse away promptly if contact occurs.

Mirror Glass

All MUNLER mirrors use ecological, silvering-free mirror glass. The reflective layer sits closer to the surface than conventional mirrors, so cleaning with the right products preserves its clarity and longevity.

Routine Cleaning

  • Use a specialist glass cleaner or a 50/50 solution of distilled white vinegar and water, applied to a microfibre cloth — not directly onto the glass.
  • Buff in circular motions with a dry lint-free cloth to finish without streaks.
  • For light dust, a dry microfibre cloth is usually sufficient.

What to Avoid

  • Ammonia-based glass cleaners (many commercial window sprays contain ammonia) — these degrade the mirror coating over time.
  • Spraying liquids directly onto the mirror surface — moisture can seep behind the glass and cause edge silvering damage.
  • Rough or abrasive cloths, paper towels, or newspaper.
  • Excessive pressure on the glass, particularly near the frame edge.

Furniture Surfaces

Our end tables and furniture pieces combine stainless steel with stone or powder-coated surfaces depending on the product. Follow the guidance below for each material.

Stone Tops

  • Wipe spills immediately — stone is porous and can stain if liquid is left sitting.
  • Use a damp cloth with a small amount of neutral soap for routine cleaning.
  • Do not use acidic cleaners (lemon, vinegar) on stone — they can etch the surface.

Powder-Coated Surfaces

  • Clean with a damp cloth and mild detergent only.
  • Avoid solvents, which can lift the coating.
  • Do not place very hot items directly onto powder-coated surfaces.

Placement & Environment

Where you place your MUNLER piece is as important as how you clean it. The right environment will preserve both function and appearance.

  • Avoid prolonged direct sunlight. UV exposure can cause discolouration over time, particularly on mirror glass and upholstered elements.
  • Keep away from high humidity. Bathrooms without proper ventilation, or rooms with consistently high moisture, can accelerate edge oxidation on mirror glass. Ensure adequate airflow.
  • Maintain clearance from heat sources. Radiators, fireplaces, and underfloor heating vents can cause thermal stress on glass and affect adhesive behind the mirror.
  • Secure wall fixings. Always hang mirrors using the supplied fixings or appropriate wall anchors rated for the weight. Never hang on a single nail or adhesive strip alone.

Long-Term Maintenance

  • Inspect wall fixings annually — vibration from nearby doors or windows can gradually loosen fixings over time.
  • If the frame develops a surface mark from light impact, a specialist stainless steel restorer (applied with the grain) can often minimise the appearance.
  • Contact us before attempting any remedial work — we may be able to advise or assist.
