Choosing a mirror is partly about shape and finish, but the detail that makes or breaks the look is size. Too small and it floats; too large and it overwhelms. Here is a simple guide to getting the proportions right.
The two-thirds rule
When a mirror hangs above furniture, a console, a sideboard, a vanity or a mantel, aim for roughly two-thirds to three-quarters the width of the piece below it. That ratio feels anchored and intentional. A mirror that is much narrower looks lost; one that is wider than the furniture tends to feel top-heavy.
Wall mirror sizes
For most walls, a medium mirror suits a cloakroom, a vanity or a tighter console, while a large one makes a statement above a wider sideboard or in a living room. Our Brook wall mirror comes in two sizes to cover both:

Full-length mirror sizes

Getting the hanging height right
For a wall mirror, the centre of the glass should sit around eye level, roughly 150 to 165 cm from the floor. Above furniture, leave a gap of about 15 to 25 cm between the top of the piece and the bottom of the mirror so the two feel related rather than stacked.
Test before you commit
Before drilling, cut a piece of paper or card to the mirror’s dimensions and tape it to the wall. Step back and view it from across the room and from the doorway. It is the quickest way to be sure of the size, and to picture an asymmetrical silhouette in the space.
